About 4 Times Baroque: 4 Times Baroque was founded in 2013 by the four young musicians Jan Nigges (recorder), Jonas Zschenderlein (violin), Karl Simko (cello) and Alexander von Heißen (harpsichord). Based in Frankfurt am Main (Germany) the quartet is one of the most exciting ensembles of the new generation of early music performers and has already been invited to well-known festivals and concert halls throughout Germany and Europe. The press described them as “popstars of the early music scene” and “four young shooting stars.“ As part of the Eeemerging program (Emerging European Ensembles), the quartet received support from several early music centres throughout Europe. Concerts and residencies had been organized in France, Poland, Latvia, Germany and Italy. The quartet is dedicated to developing a close rapport with their audience, and not only through their musical performances: entertaining concert talks and discussions are conceived to provide musical and historical backdrop to their programs, and allow the public to stay up-to-date with the ensemble’s personal work. The musicians’ close friendship has carried over into their still-budding professional careers, and their unique rapport is palpable on stage and in their playing. 4 Times Baroque got invitations to famous Festivals in Germany as Rheingau Musik Festival, Thüringer Bachwochen, Oberstdorfer Musiksommer, Mozartfest Würzburg, Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Händel Festspiele Göttingen, Festival d'Ambronay (France), Meraner Musikwochen (Italy), Mozarteum Salzburg (Austria). Highlights in 2020 include concerts in Istanbul, Edinburg, at the Telemann Festtage Magdeburg, Bachfest Leipzig and in Japan. For their first CD “Caught in Italian Virtuosity” (Deutsche Harmonia Mundi / Sony) 4 Times Baroque was awarded in Oktober 2018 with the renowned “OPUS Klassik” Young Ensemble of the Year. The next CD which includes works from J.S. Bach and G.F. Telemann will be produced in this year.
