The Institut français d'Ecosse has joined forces with Theatre Sans Accents to offer French holiday mini camps for primary and secondary school learners in February, April, and July 2018. School is out! Why not go to France… in Edinburgh?! Make the most of your time off by immersing yourself in French language and drama in the heart of Edinburgh! These two-day mini camps are structured so that participants spend half of each day in an immersive French language environment playing theatre games and doing drama exercises and the other half of each day honing their French language skills with a dedicated teacher from the Institut français. These camps are a great way to boost your children’s confidence in French! Camps run from 10am to 4pm each day, with a break for lunch. Please note that lunch is not included with the camp and participants must bring their own lunch. Please see below for camp schedule and tarifs.

We are thrilled to offer you the exceptional chance of viewing a unique ‘behind the scenes’ photography exhibition by Rimbaud Patron, Scottish Ballet’s very own dancer and photographer. Rimbaud has been dancing with Scottish Ballet for five years now, and photographing the company from a special and engaging vantage point. These exclusive prints offer moments unseen to the audience as well as few of the most memorable and breathtaking scenes from the ballets you love. His photographs will be shown throughout Scotland in the upcoming months. This exhibition is the result of a collaboration between Rimbaud, the French Institute and Scottish Ballet. The photos are currently on display in the Salle Marie de Guise, located on the lower ground floor of the Institut français. Launched by the Institut français in 2016, the NIGHT OF IDEAS is a project staged simultaneously in Paris, London, Edinburgh, and worldwide on Thursday 25 January 2018. In partnership with Imperial College London, Kings College London and the V&A, the Institut français du Royaume-Uni has put together a thought-provoking programme of free debates exploring the latest ideas behind issues central to our times. Crossing French, British and European perspectives, Timothy Peake, Thomas Pesquet, Ken Loach, Tracy Edwards, Posy Simmonds and Tristram Hunt are among the fifty leading experts, artists, researchers and journalists taking part in the NIGHT OF IDEAS. Inspired by the Power to the Imagination slogan of the Paris May 1968 protests, the NIGHT OF IDEAS will engage audiences in open debates on the new futures unfolding in the cultural, artistic and scientific fields, as well as in our political and philosophical frames of discussion. We’ll look at the major issues and aspirations of our times, from gender equality, as we are entering the centenary year of women’s suffrage in the UK, to the meaning of revolutions, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of May 1968. With a special focus on the ability of arts and sciences to change the world, we’ll reflect on the new challenges for space exploration and Artificial Intelligence and explore the blurred lines between art and science and between fiction and reality in political TV drama. For the Night of Ideas, l'Institut français d'Ecosse will be organising its own live events and broadcasting a livestream of the talks and debates held in London. The schedule for this livestream, by theme, is as follows: 17:00 Introduction from Institut Français Écosse http://www.ifecosse.org.uk/Night-of-Ideas.html via IFTTT via https://onlinevideoproduction.tumblr.com/post/169811932662 Contact us La Médiathèque Opening Hours > Monday to Friday: 9:30 am to 6:30 pm Note that the médiathèque is currently closed for the installation of bookshelves. from Institut Français Écosse http://www.ifecosse.org.uk/Contacts-and-opening-hours.html via IFTTT via https://onlinevideoproduction.tumblr.com/post/169588015292

The Institut français d'écosse is kick-starting 2018 with a soirée of French music for Oboe and Piano presented by Usher Hall Emerging Artists, Turquoise Duo. Enjoy an evening of french composers (including Fauré, Poulenc, Saint Saëns) in the stunning environs of our performance space here at our new premises on West Parliament Square. Turquoise Duo is an ensemble created in 2015 wanting to spread and explore classical music with a special focus in Cuban, European and Scottish Folklore. Daniel Hart (piano) and Clara Lafuente (oboe) were born respectively in Cuba and Spain, and met whilst studying at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. The home countries of the players bring to the repertoire a Mediterranean and Caribbean flavour, mixed with the Scottish culture from where the group has been developing. They have played in the Aberdeen International Youth Festival as part of Live Music Now scheme, who allows them to have performance opportunities in places where people rarely have the chance to listen to live music. Having a versatile repertoire, they hope to please every kind of audience.
